AllFocusTM EDF Image Gallery - Fatigue Failure
The Z-stack of fatigue failure of a bolt surface was acquired with a Nikon SMZ-10 stereo microscope and a QImaging MicroPublisher 3.3 camera. The bolt was tilted at ~45 degrees and illuminated with a ringlight. A polarizer ring on the ringlight was rotated to minimize specular reflection. The bolt is 0.30" in diameter; the total depth covered by the Z-stack was ~10mm with magnification of ~7x. Focus was motorized with Motorized Lift controlled by a custom macro running inside ImagePro. The Z-stack was processed with AllFocus V0.95. Left image is the Z-stack animation, middle image is the Merged Image produced by AllFocus. Right image is the Height Map shown with standard color rendering where color corresponds to height alternating with rendering by the Merged Image. (3D rendering of the Height Map was done in MATLAB)
